Unit Overview

Imagine a world where your daily life means struggling to get an education and finding food to feed your family. You have experienced political instability for most of your life, and your country is rife with corruption. Now, imagine that this world is literally shaken and destroyed by an earthquake killing members of your family and leaving you homeless. Not only are you homeless, but so is everyone you know. Not only are you hungry and homeless, but your entire country is made up of young people who need jobs to survive even though none exist. This is the world of Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, the only freed slave nation and the one that we will be traveling to now.
